Eat, Drink & Make Music!

From fresh breakfast berries to funky bass players, we love jam at Summer Jo's. We love it so much that we've invited (and he accepted!) Johnny Trujillo back to host a mostly-acoustic Sunday jam session featuring special guest artists each week.
This summer's line-up includes local jazz phenom Libby Goines, Reggae rocker Mawg of the Toyes, folk guitarist Brian Parris, jazzy duo Latino Andy and Anne Pimentel, Boogiecats bassist Dave Vestnys, bluesy light rocker Chris Graves, and guitar guru Joe Diehl.
The show starts Sundays at 5PM. Bring your appetite. Bring a bottle (Remember, it's also Corkage-free Sundays)! Bring your favorite instrument or the family band and sit in for a set or three with Johnny with some of the finest, funkiest music makers in the Rogue region.

Summer Jo's Annual Retreat

In the first week of September, the whole staff took off for three days at Lake of the Woods. It's our annual Summer Jo retreat where we let our hair down. We did that, and swam, hiked, biked, played music, cooked over the grill, told jokes around the campfire, and ate s'mores. Jennie, Andy, Justin, Thomas, and Amber's dad Patrick Dodd all played guitar and Ajax brought his hand-made didgeridoo, which Shelley managed to coax some sound out of. It was also Sophie's first camping trip and she took to it like an old camper.

It's a musical summer here at Summer Jo's, and it'll probably be musical all fall, too. We have more live music going on here this year than ever before. The lineup includes B Wishes and John Trujillo on Thursday nights, Michael Cruz on Sundays, Livin' Daylights playing Bluegrass on August 21st. And then Shane Skinner has assembled a stellar cast of area singers to perform songs from your favorite musicals on August 7, August 14, and August 28.

John and B are accomplished musicians and play a wide variety of music, but my favorites are B's own compositions. She's an amazing songwriter. If you haven't heard them, you should. And now that I've told you the right night, that'll be easier.

Every Thursday All Summer!
Last night was our first night of Jazz and Blues on the lawn, featuring John Trujillo and B Wishes.
A bass, a guitar, two mellow voices, a gentle evening breeze, fine food and wine, good company: it was an evening savored by all. John and B performed covers of everybody from Billie Holiday to Norah Jones as well as original songs by B from her new album, The Truth That Works For Me. At one point a robin joined in on the chorus!
